Charles Dickens

Mr. Scrooge

Where some people end, we begin

The work of Charles Dickens belongs among the treasures of literature and he himself is rightfully classified among the greatest novelists of the 19th century. The Moravian Theatre Olomouc owes this genius a lot! Dickens’ work has been introduced to the Olomouc audience only once so far, in 2002 in the form of his fairy-tale The Magic Fishbone. The time has now come to settle this cultural debt. The initial theme for this family performance of Mr. Scrooge was Charles Dickens’ legendary Christmas Carol, which tells the story of the unexpected moral transformation of a greedy tradesman, Ebenezer Scrooge, which happens during a single exceptional night. Everything happens as a result of several mysterious moments when this stingy and evil old man is visited by three ghosts. The soul of Mr. Scrooge, who is hated by all and whose only values have been money and material assets, is revived through this experience and finds enough space in itself for goodness and love for others.
